The State of Johor Darul Tak'zim, Malaysia lies at the southern tip of mainland Asia. On the west coast is the Straits of Malacca while on the east the state is flanked by the South China Sea. Johor share a common border with the states of Malacca, Negeri Sembilan and Pahang. Singapore lies at the south, connected by a road and rail causeway and by road via the 2nd link from Gelang Patah to Tuas in Singapore.

The sea offers a colourful and fascinating variety of underwater life. Visitors have a wide choice of activities to pursue like snorkelling, scuba diving, canoeing and other water sports.

There are other equally charming beaches with long stretches of sandy coastline bordered by casuarina or mangrove plants especially along the east coast of Johor. Popular beaches with chalet accommodation such as Air Papan and Tanjung Leman near Mersing, Tanjung Balau, Batu Layar and Jason Bay in Kota Tinggi are as tranquil and serene as a remote island off the coast.

Desaru is the largest beach resort in Johor.
